The challenge
Having undertaken a feasibility study, completed design and appointed a shell contractor Norwich Union were keen to progress their project to reflect the 9 month investment into their project. ARCADIS AYH were initially employed to review and report on the project progress, and ultimately appointed to adopt the role of project, programme and cost managers with the brief to deliver the project on the originally established timeline, and within the established budget.
The approach
ARCADIS AYH established executive, strategic, design and site project management teams, and shell and fit out cost management teams. Introduction of control procedures for client change, design approval and acceptance, procurement processes interfaced with appropriate cost control procedures.
The result
ARCADIS AYH worked within the previously established design and procurement programme to get the project back on track to deliver 25,000 sq. ft. nett technical data hall, and 12,500 sq. ft. of administrative office accommodation within 75,000 sq. ft. new build tier 3 data facility in Norwich.
In the first 4 months of appointment alone the ARCADIS AYH team delivered the following:
- Recommended and had appointed 10 package contract orders
- Recommended and had appointed 1 fit out contract appointment
- Secured £16.5m shell contract with programme security
- Secured £42m fit out contract with programme security
