The British Council for Office's (BCO) mission is to research, develop and communicate best practice in all aspects of the office accommodation sector. It delivers this by providing a forum for the discussion and debate of relevant issues for those working within the industry.
Every year, members of the UK corporate real estate industry gather to celebrate the very best in office space at the prestigious BCO Awards. The awards provide public recognition for top quality design, innovation and functionality and act as a benchmark for excellence in workplaces.
This year two of the projects that were selected from the North of England regional heats to go through to the awards in London featured ARCADIS AYH as the consultant, including:
- The No. 1 Whitehall Riverside development (shortlisted for the 'commercial workplace' award) - ARCADIS AYH plc was instrumental in the successful delivery of this Grade A office development in the heart of Leeds city centre, which comprises 592,000 sq ft of mixed use space, including office and residential buildings, a multi-storey car park, hotel and retail units.
- Provident Financial International (shortlisted for the 'fit out workplace' award) – the office space totals 38,000 sq ft and houses for 200 staff. It also has the flexibility to accommodate future expansion. The project's aim was to create a high quality working environment that would enthuse staff about the relocation from Bradford to Leeds, enabling retention of existing personnel and assisting the recruitment of new personnel.
- Manchester Evening News 'MEN' (shortlisted for the 'fit out workplace' award) The fit-out design of the new MEN offices boast a modern and welcoming milieu, reflecting a 21st Century ambience for a leading multi-media company. Relocation dates were critical to the MEN, especially considering that newspapers and supplements need to be published on time everyday. ARCADIS AYH plc were central to the entire delivery process and, through the implementation of a detailed and stringent tender process, ARCADIS AYH plc ensured that the Contractor was able to deliver the 77,000 sq.ft. project on time and within budget and, most importantly, to the requirements of the Manchester Evening News.
