History

The origins of ARCADIS AYH go back to 1946 when Stanley Axtell established a quantity surveying business in the City of London. Between 1946 and 1994 the business performed as a partnership with the acronym AYH being derived from the surnames of the early partners messrs. Axtell, Yates and Hallett. The AYH Partnership was incorporated in 1994.

In March 1999 the holding of the major shareholders was purchased by a team of existing senior managers. The new owners provided an ambitious and dynamic impetus for the growth of the firm. AYH subsequently restructured its operations into fully integrated market sector groups designed to provide our clients with expertise in their business sector.

Our vision grew to service our clients' needs in all their markets. This was achieved by continuous skills and service innovation, building a UK regional presence, leading to the establishment of the Worldwide Project Consulting network. This culminated in the merger of AYH into the ARCADIS group in 2005.

ARCADIS was established in 1882. The name ARCADIS is derived from Arcadia, according to Greek mythology, the finest place to live on earth. It represents the ARCADIS aim to work systematically with clients to create a better environment for people to live and work in.

Dynamic, client-focused and with a truly international reach, ARCADIS AYH is a UK market leader in several sectors and proudly supports its clients overseas.
